Amy Goodman Biography Following a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art, Amy Goodman has become an established sculptor and portrait artist specialising in her unique style of welded steel, bronze sculpture, and a variety of 2D work. Her work is exhibited in many well respected shows and galleries throughout the UK, Europe and Kuwait. She exhibited work with the S.E.A (Society of Equestrian Artists) at the Mall Galleries, London, in July 2006. Amy has undertaken some notable commissions including portraits of ex-England cricketer Robin Smith, a bronze bust of the late Graham Hill and has just completed six sculptures depicting footballers’ (United Legends) in action for a new hospitality suite at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United F.C. “As long as I can remember I have drawn and sculpted animals, particularly horses. I studied art at A-level and then went on to do a degree course in Fine Art, where I discovered welding and sculpture on a larger scale, a challenge I relish. The character and movement of the subject matter are very important to me - a few strokes of paint, or a few lines of steel can say so much.” “After winning a student prize at my Degree Show in 1997, my work was exhibited at the ‘On-Line Gallery’ in Southampton. This then led on to the Hampshire Sculpture Trust inviting me to have a solo exhibition at its Winchester headquarters. This happened the following January and was extremely well received.” “I like working in different mediums. As well as my life-size welded steel pieces I enjoy bronze and resin, drawing, painting and commissioned work of people and animals. I have also taken part in various group exhibitions throughout the UK and had a solo show at the elegant Napier Gallery in Jersey- Summer of 2000. This show was inspired by a six month spell working at a lodge on the edge of the wonderful Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.” In 2001 Amy had a solo exhibition in London at the Saray Gallery in St. James’s, followed by other exhibitions at Gallery 28, Cork Street and The Air Gallery in Dover Street.” | | August 2004 saw the opening of her solo exhibition "Amy à Eymet" at the Café des Arts in SW France followed by exhibitions in Villeneuve sur Lot; the latest of which took place at the prestigious 'Haras National' (National Stud of France) in September 2005. After a successful equestrian exhibition at the 'hotArt' gallery, in Knutsford, March 2006, Amy was later selected to show work at the S.E.A. exhibition in London. Recently Amy won a prize in the sculpture category of the renowned "Au Fil de l'Art" at Puy-l'Evêque in France. Amy's work has also been shown in ‘Country Life’ magazine as well as ‘The Times’, ‘Cheshire Life’, ‘Manchester Evening News’ and local press. | | Qualifications 1994-1997 1992-1994 Solo Exhibitions 2005 2004 2001 2000 1998 Group Exhibitions 2007 2006 2002-2007 2004-2006 2002 2001 1999-2000 1998 1997 | BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art Southampton Institute, East Park Terrace, Southampton BTEC National Diploma in General Art and Design (Distinction Awarded) Basingstoke College of Technology ‘Haras National’ - Villeneuve (one of the National Studs of France) ‘Amy à Eymet’ - Café des Arts, Eymet, France ‘Menagerie’ - Saray Gallery, St. James’s, London Napier Gallery, St. Helier, Jersey ‘Horses in Space’ - St. Thomas Centre (The Hampshire Sculpture Trust), Winchester ‘Draught Horse’ - Placed exhibit at Beale Park, Pangbourne.
